Originally from Minnesota, Regan Mies is currently an MFA candidate in creative writing (fiction and literary translation) at Columbia University, where she received her BA in political science and German. Regan is also the director of Columbia Artist/Teachers, an instructor with the Columbia Pre-College Program, and a jury advisor with cross-cultural organization New Books in German. Previously, she taught English in Hamburg with the support of a Fulbright grant and worked in the editorial department at Abrams Books.
Regan’s reviews and interviews have appeared in the LA Review of Books, the Cleveland Review of Books, the Chicago Review of Books, and Necessary Fiction, and her short fiction and translations have appeared in the Asymptote blog, No Man’s Land, On the Seawall, and elsewhere.
